hi there

please could anyone give me some help for my daughters school project.
Not sure where to go have tryed some sites and coming up with nothing grandad must be somewhere.

his name was Derek Douglas Smith
Born london approx 1925 upwards
served as a corporal in the RAF
he was also a barber
service number 1462442

my grandad came back a different man and never spoke of the war again ever.
i think it may have been a japenese camp

so friends where do i start

Do you know his mother's maiden name ?
