Family tree research

12/01/2009 Continue onwards and upwards with the research into the murky history of my family. Quite difficult to follow more than six families through time and history, sotries abound of battles and intrigue are to be found in the archives. The best part of courses is meeting and talk to extended family memebrs I never knew existed until now! Thank god fo rthe internet and the vast sources there on, without that starting point, it could prove to be a knackering experience running round the church yards of Cumbria and Nottinghamshire. If anyone knows about the Clarke family of Nottingham and Derbyshire I am always on the look out for news and snippets of information. Also, the Anderson clan from Scotland in particular those from the Isle of Skye and surrounding islands would also be welcome with any links in history.
03/04/09 Still investigating family ties and history. Have visited Whitehaven archive in Cumbria in the attempt to find out about my Grandmother Cissy Steele. Unsucessful trip and still left nonplussed into the origins of the woman concerned. Have stories about orphans and non registered adoptions, but finding it hard to distinguish truth from fiction.
